Did you know that the main way our bodies cool us down is through evaporation of moisture from our skin? If the humidity is too high even if AC unit blasting cold air you may not be able to get cool enough. The comfort humidity level inside your house should be in between 40% and 60%. So, obviously any higher than that you will be sweating.
Exhaust fans are already installed in most houses. Most commonly seen is the bathroom exhaust fan Sri Lanka. Bathroom exhaust fans and vent fans for your stoves can be a key in keeping a low humidity level in your house. These products are designed to remove the excess humidity that is created as a result of showering, boiling water and other household activities that can create excess moisture in the air.
If your house isn’t already installed with exhaust fans, and if you wish to install the exhaust fans for your kitchen and toilets, please arrange to do so to get rid of high humidity and heat.
These exhaust fans are predominantly designed to remove excess moisture that can damage the house. On the other hand, when humidity become a deadly problem the best solution is a dehumidifier as it will remove excess humidity from air and oftentimes is stored in a container somewhere. The impracticality lies as the containers will have to be emptied occasionally. This will be a good eye opener for you to realize the amount of water that is emptied from these dehumidifiers. As a result of excess humidity with over period of time the rooms / spaces are likely to feel stuffy and would even smell musty. Too much humidity is known to lead to other concerns such as disruptions in structural integrity, pest problems etc. Hence as a first step to this problem start with an exhaust fan.
